Our mission
Women in Signs and Graphics held its first virtual event on December 3rd 2020, hosting an honest discussion on diversity within our market sector. Since then we have received some great positive feedback on the value of the conversation and the initiative itself. The event featured insights from Sophie Kirby from The Printing Charity, Ian Hoole from The Sign Group, Sam Armstrong of Make It Happen, Marcus Timson of FM Future, and Karis Copp of Karis Copp Media, followed by an open forum where a number of sign and graphics professionals shared experiences, opinions and advice. Women in Signs and Graphics now has more than 160 members in the LinkedIn group with more people joining the community daily. Co-founders Sarah Winterbottom, Business Development Manager, Josero, and Izabella Ivanovici, Specialist Recruitment Consultant, INV Recruitment are keen to keep the momentum going, spreading the word and encouraging as many signs and graphics professionals as possible to get involved. We are already looking forward to our next event, which will be focused on education and development, scheduled for March 31st, again in a virtual format. Industries
Having being in the industry since around 1991 and also been the minority I have a passion to encourage more women into the industry but also to inspire more young people across all genders to join this amazing sector which is full of so many opportunities across all areas. It is an aging industry and we need more new blood to come on board which is why we are keen to work with education partners to push this forward and have already collaborated with a couple of partners. We are excited to help grow the industry and work together with our group to make this successful.”
“Having worked in the industry for over 10 years across recruitment and sales I noticed the vast majority of people I was dealing with were male and realised that there is a need for more women.
We are looking to bring people together starting the conversation and working with people of all genders across the industry who are keen to support our ideas. We are looking to put together regular events and keeping engaged with our little community offering them support and information that would benefits their business and also personally.”
